![]() ![]() I was FORCED to pay $1,350 for the van since my daughter, son in law and 4 grandchildren (3 in car seats) would have been stranded. That agent was able to get me a van but the only rate he had was more than DOUBLE. In the end they just transferred me to an airport location without any advanced notice to the poor agent who took the call. After many hours with Budget “Customer Service” including a supervisor they were unable/unwilling to get the vehicle I already paid for. I get to the pick up location just before 1 only to find them closed. $630 for the week with a pick up time of noon on a Saturday. I paid for a 15 passenger van on months in advance to lock in a lower rate. Reading some of these reviews, I imagine they must be inundated! Needless to say, their complaints procedure is slow. ![]() Also - having paid for toll access, I've just received a charge for using an express lane. Looks like this is sharp practice from Budget. We chose full to full, dutifully filled the car up just before dropping it off and still had an £85 charge for refilling (which we are now challenging). We were also unexpectedly charged for refuelling. How can it all be so hard when you've already provided the info for your rental? We waited a good hour, but having spoken to some people on the bus I think we may have been lucky. The car we ended up with was great! The negatives: Long wait line, with grumpy customers and even grumpier staff. Shuttle buses to the airport worked well. So - an unexpected free upgrade to a much bigger car. The positives: The check in procedure (Denver Airport) was so chaotic that by the time we'd made it through to the cars, we were invited to pick whatever we fancied. How many customers are charged these fees wrongly and don’t notice!? Never again, it’s unacceptable and such a pain! Tip: Keep your gas receipt, take photos of gas gauge and the interior/exterior of rental at the time of return. 30 minutes later I received a notification of extra gas charges to rental agreement, than spent 20 minutes on the phone with customer service to get the charges refunded. Last rental returned August 3rd, with a long line of 20 people and not having the time to wait I decided to take the chance & returned rental by dropping the keys in the counter drop box. Each instance of being overcharged I was refunded but only after calling customer service. The only time this doesn’t happen is when I wait in line so an agent can fully complete my return & I get a printed receipt. More than irritating to be charged for gas at an outrageous rate per gallon when you’ve already paid. Every single time I’ve returned rental by dropping off the keys in their dropbox I’ve been wrongly charged an extra “fuel service” fee even though the rentals were returned OVERFILLED with gas. ![]() Blatant mis-selling!!!!Ī longtime customer of Budget & Avis, renting a vehicle once a month for work. We were basically told it was our problem and then they stopped replying. They responded eventually saying that we had agreed to extra insurance and roadside assistance and it’s our responsibility to check the paperwork thoroughly!! We were unable to check the paperwork in full detail because it’s all online and the system ‘crashed’ at that point, which I didn’t think much of at the time as I’d already checked the details when I booked it, but with hindsight that now seems dubious. We attempted to get in contact but couldn’t find an email address so contacted them through their Facebook page. Then we we returned home we saw that $260 had been charged. I even repeated it back to the lady to confirm that there would be no extra charges if the car was returned in the same condition with a full tank and she confirmed again that this was correct. The car we were given was nice enough, no problem there, but extra charges were made to our credit card despite everything being pre paid and us being told that the card details were only needed for security reasons. ![]() Will never use budget again and have reported the issue to our credit card company. ![]()
